THE MOUNT OF ANGELS
An afternoon walk on Carningli (Angel Mountain) in the company of novelist and broadcaster Brian John. In the course of an easy 3-mile walk we will discover why the mountain has been held to be sacred for thousands of years; examine the links with Saint Brynach who came here to commune with the angels; look at standing stones, burial mounds and other traces of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlement; and scramble across one of the most spectacular Iron Age fortified summit villages in Wales. We might even find some traces of the mysterious Carningli Mountain Railway! Brian will also talk about the key locations in his Angel Mountain Saga of five novels which has become one of the publishing sensations of the past decade. He will try to explain what is so special about the landscape, where his inspiration came from, why he chose to tell the tales through the words of the heroine Martha Morgan, and what the symbols of the books are intended to signify.
